Is it possible that there some sort of workaround to this somehow working for the d-pad controller? I know I could be way off, but I really am itchin' to play with the d-pad controller.
You can get an adapter, but it’s probably best to pick up a DualShock 3, as it’s almost entirely the same but with wireless and USB support. When I plugged in the Dualshock, it auto detects the d-pad despite the dual-analog button being turned off. Sony’s PS1 and PS2 controllers are older and don’t use USB. Now the reason why I ask this rather than coming to any disappointing conclusion is due to one thing I noticed. The thing is that when I try to do so, It always detects the d-pad as the analog stick, making it virtually impossible to play those certain games. FREE Shipping on orders over 25 shipped by Amazon.

The issue in question is the detection of the d-pad. The PS2/PS1 to PS3/PC Controller Adapter has been specially designed to be used on most PS3 games. The controller that only had the d-pad and four face buttons (with the thin L and R buttons), and I have a USB adapter that lets me use any wired controller from past Sony consoles, including the one I am having the issue with. I have the launch-style controller that initially came bundled with the original PlayStation system.
